A digger with a large bucket arm, tracks along the bottom and a cab. Construction machines are requested by a particular sort of child with real intensity, and this is the page for them. The arm is drawn as three thick segments rather than a mechanism, which keeps it colorable, and the bucket at the end is the single most satisfying shape on the page to fill. The tracks are divided into large blocks rather than individual links, for the same reason: real tracks would be forty tiny shapes and nobody finishes those. The cab window is separated so it can stay white. Yellow is the expected answer and worth doing once because it is what makes a digger look like a digger, and after that any color is fine. Printed at A4 the arm reaches close to the top corner, so print with a margin if the picture is going to be trimmed or pinned up.

- Tracks exist to spread weight. A machine that would sink to its axles on soft ground can cross the same ground on tracks because the load is spread over a far larger area, at a pressure lower than a person standing.
- The arm works on hydraulics, which move force through fluid because liquid does not compress. A small pump can therefore produce enough force at the bucket to lift several tonnes.

Real tracks are dozens of small links and nobody finishes coloring those. Large blocks read the same way and keep the page achievable.
Do diggers have to be yellow?
No, but doing it once is worth it, because yellow is what makes the machine instantly recognisable. After that any color works.
