A bunny sitting upright with long ears, a carrot beside it. This is among the simplest animal pages here: a handful of large shapes, nothing narrow, and a subject every child can name. The inner ears are separated from the outer, which is the one detail that makes a rabbit look like a rabbit rather than a grey blob, and coloring those pink while leaving the body pale is worth suggesting once. The carrot is the only bright thing on the page and finishes the picture in about ten seconds. White, grey, brown and black are all real rabbits, and a child who wants a blue one is not doing anything a breeder has not attempted. Printed at A4 the bunny fills most of the sheet, which makes it a good page for the youngest children, and there is room below to write a name. On ordinary copier paper crayon and pencil both behave well; a thick felt tip will overrun the inner ears. A bunny coloring sheet prints well at half size, two to a page, which is useful when a whole class needs one.

• A rabbit's teeth never stop growing, at roughly three millimetres a week, which is why they gnaw constantly. A rabbit that stops wearing them down develops serious problems within months.
